Helping a homeschool mom figure out a way to make their house work better for the family

Carrie has an older home that is fairly big but is constantly cluttered and messy.  Her children range from 2 to 13 years old and she homeschools the older kids.  She was discouraged when she came to us because it felt like she was doing all the work herself but no matter how much she cleaned, it never stayed that way.  What she spent hours doing was undone in minutes.  We developed a strategic plan for her that involved re-defining the use of many of the rooms in the home, removing excess furniture, rotating toys, and creating better areas for homeschooling and doing arts and crafts.   After meeting virtually with Carrie, we met with her 3 oldest children to find out what they like and don’t like doing in the home so that everyone could help by doing what they were strongest at.  We also offered advice on ways to reward the children for doing chores and keeping their spaces tidy so that Carrie is no longer doing all the work herself.  Happier mom.  Happier home.
